Minimum embedding of balanced P4-designs into 5-cycle systems
A 5-cycle system on v + w points embeds a balanced P4-design on v points if there is a subset of v points on which the 5-cycles induce the blocks of a balanced P4-design. The mininum possible such w is: v (mod 30) w v ≡ 4, 16 v−1 3 v ≡ 7, 10, 22, 25 v+5 3 v ≡ 1, 13, 28 v+11 3 v ≡ 19 (mod 30) v+17 3 We shall show this minimum value of w is attained. AMS classification: 05B05.
متن کاملEmbedding Partial Steiner Triple Systems
We prove that a partial Steiner triple system 8 of order n can be embedded in a Steiner triple system T of any given admissible order greater than 4w. Furthermore, if G(S), the missing-edge graph of S, has the property that A(G)<ri(n + l)l and \E(G)\ then # can be embedded in a Steiner triple system of order 2n +1, provided that 2w +1 is admissible. We also prove that if there is a partial Stei...
متن کاملEmbedding Steiner triple systems into Steiner systems S(2, 4, v)
We initiate a systematic study of embeddings of Steiner triple systems into Steiner systems S(2; 4; v). We settle the existence of an embedding of the unique STS(7) and, with one possible exception, of the unique STS(9) into S(2; 4; v). We also obtain bounds for embedding sizes of Steiner triple systems of larger orders. c © 2003 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
متن کاملEmbedding Hypermedia into Information Systems
This paper discusses the integration of hypermedia as a value-added support functionality into computer-based information systems. These include a large base of scientific and business applications, which people use primarily for their underlying analytic functionality. Hypermedia features supplement these applications, providing access to the application's primary activities, and support for t...
